2014 Netgalley Reading Challenge

On to another reading challenge for the year!

I am a member of Netgalley, and I often find wonderful new titles available to read and review.

My problem?  My eyes are often MUCH bigger than my reading time, and I end up requesting and/or receiving titles that I can't read before they expire!  That means that my feedback level is not up to snuff, since I can't review a book that I haven't read.

I'm joining in the Netgalley Reading Challenge being hosted by Ariel Avalon and, with luck (and planning), this challenge should help me in my Netgalley picks.

From the blog:

To sign up, just add your information to the linky list below. Afterwards, choose the difficulty level you want. Once January 1st, 2014 arrives, you can begin reading, any books read before will not count. You can continue to request galleys, or you can read the ones you already have. The point is to get your feedback ratio closer to the recommended 80%.

Every 3 months, I will be posting an update on my own challenge which will also serve as a giveaway post. I will be running 4 giveaways through the year as incentives to be hitting your goals! You must have a post about the challenge which displays which level you have entered for that tracks what books you have read toward that challenge in order to enter the giveaways. You can format the post however you want, but you must include the challenge banner at the top, your challenge level somewhere within the post (you don’t have to use the level graphics), and that has at the very least a list of which books you have read.

I'm going to pick the following level:

I'll include a table with links to my titles and reviews in this post as I complete each book, and also include my progress in a monthly reading challenge wrap-up post.  Below are the books that are currently in my NetGalley list  - I'm only counting books that I requested, not those where the publisher sent me an invitation link, since I don't seem to have a problem getting to those (click the cover to go to the Goodreads page):

The Collector of Dying Breaths by M. J. RoseUntraceable by S. R. JohannesTrust Me by Jeff Abbott
Ten Tiny Breaths by K. A. TuckerSomerset by Leila MeachamMercy Snow by Tiffany BakerFlying Shoes by Lisa Howorth

I'm currently reading "Somerset", a rather epic historical set in America in the mid-1800's.

If you're joining in, let me know in the comments!

  1. I have the same problem you do! So I stopped requested Netgalley ARCs for now. Hope this challenge helps you out.

Comments make me feel all squishy happy inside, so drop a line if you see or read something interesting! PLEASE don't leave links to your blog or page unless the post you're replying to specifically asks you to leave a link!
Sorry that I had to re-enable word verification, but without it, there was far too much spam coming in - the only other option would have been to require only registered (Google, OpenID, etc.) comments, which might require you, the commenter, to go through even MORE steps just to comment!
