Friday Book Blogger Hop - October 19, 2012

Book Blogger Hop

From the Crazy for Books blog:

"The Book Blogger Hop is much more than just a “follow for a follow”. It’s about making friends. There are literally thousands of book bloggers around the world. It can seem like we are blogging in a bubble, constantly checking the same blogs over and over again. The Hop is about taking the time to make a quality visit to another blog, getting to know the person who is writing that blog, and seeing if you really *want* to follow that person!"

Every week is a chance to visit a new blog or more, find connections, and learn about new books to read!  The Friday Book Blogger hop was gone for a while, but it's back and better than ever.  I missed it and I'm happy to participate as we rotate hosts! I'll be hosting this week and next!

For some reason, I don't think Jennifer received my questions, but for this week, the question is:

1.  How did you find out about book blogging and what made you decide to start one yourself?
I actually visited book blogs for a while before I ever started a blog.  I liked reading about new books :)  The first two that I actually discovered were Drey's Library and 5 Minutes for Books.
I am also a knitter, and I found some great knitting blogs and was a huge fan of Ravelry, which led me to find even more knitting blogs. (Oh, and if you knit, weave, or crochet or want to learn, Ravelry is a great resource!)  So I thought I'd start a knitting blog.  THAT didn't quite work out (I think I MAY actually have one or two knitting posts from 3 years ago or so, but ... ).  I still keep telling myself that I WILL add knitting in here somewhere, but between working and getting ready to go back and forth to work, twelve hours of the day is gone and I still have to cook, clean, get Bebe Boy James back and forth to activities, help him with his homework, etc.  By the time he's down for the night, I'm too tired to do ANYthing, which makes it hard for me to do any blog work at all.

I saw some review blogs, and figured I'd start doing some reviews on my own, but most especially book reviews.  I joined some book review communities, and, well, there you have it!  A book blog was born :)

How about you?  Link back YOUR Friday Book Blogger post and then try to visit at least 3 other sites and comment - hops are a great way to make new friends!  (Once you submit your link, you'll need to refresh the page to see your link added to the list).

  1. Thanks for a great question.

Your answer is similar to mine. I looked around for a while before I decided that I wanted to give book blogging a try. I am sure glad I did.

    Have a great day!!

Comments make me feel all squishy happy inside, so drop a line if you see or read something interesting! PLEASE don't leave links to your blog or page unless the post you're replying to specifically asks you to leave a link!
Sorry that I had to re-enable word verification, but without it, there was far too much spam coming in - the only other option would have been to require only registered (Google, OpenID, etc.) comments, which might require you, the commenter, to go through even MORE steps just to comment!
