All I Did Was Shoot My Man by Walter Mosley - ARC for review from publisher - Releases January 24, 2012 - (The Book Depository / Amazon)
The latest Leonid McGill thriller - if it's anything like the last one, When the Thrill is Gone (link to my review) - I'm in for a treat!
Cover description:
Seven years ago, Zella Grisham came home to find her man, Harry Tangelo, in bed with her friend. The weekend before, $58 million had been stolen from Rutgers Assurance Corp., whose offices were across the street from where Zella worked. Zella didn't remember shooting Harry, but she didn't deny it either. The district attorney was inclined to call it temporary insanity - until the police found $50,000 from the Rutgers heist hidden in her storage space. For reasons of his own, Leonid McGill is convinced of Zella's innocence. BUt as he begins his investigation, his life gets more complicated. His wife is drinking more than she should. His older son has moved in with his girlfriend, an ex-prostitute. His younger son is working for him and trying to stay within the law. And his father, whom he thought was long dead, has turned up under an alias.
A gripping story of murder, greed, and retribution, All I Did Was Shoot My Man is also the poignant tale of one man's attempt to stay connected to his family.
The Ritual Bath by Faye Kellerman - WON from Bookperk - (The Book Depository / Amazon)
Goodreads description:
Detective Peter Decker of the LAPD is stunned when he gets the report. Someone has shattered the sanctuary of a remote yeshiva community in the California hills with an unimaginable crime. One of the women was brutally raped as she returned from the mikvah, the bathhouse where the cleansing ritual is performed.
The crime was called in by Rina Lazarus, and Decker is relieved to discover that she is a calm and intelligent witness. She is also the only one in the sheltered community willing to speak of this unspeakable violation. As Rina tries to steer Decker through the maze of religious laws the two grow closer. But before they get to the bottom of this horrendous crime, revelations come to light that are so shocking that they threaten to come between the hard-nosed cop and the deeply religious woman with whom he has become irrevocably linked.

I realize that there is a BIG disparity in these! :) I finished War and Peace as part of a year-long readalong, and the Mysterious Benedict Society was a 3-book boxset that I won from Jill at Seaside Book Nook

OOH I love Dennis LeHane and did not know he had a new one out! Enjoy!
It's nice how you mix your genres! Serious books with more fluffy books. I'm reading a historical non0fiction at the moment as well as a cozy mystery. Quite diverse too.
Happy reading this week.
I hope that you enjoy! all of your reads.

I love Cinder's cover.
Really nice selection there! Happy Reading.
Love The Historian
I absolutely loved Cinder, which was nice because I wasn't sure if it was going to be too predictable as a retelling of the fairytale, but it was inventive and fun. I hope you enjoy it too!
I read great reviews on Cinder. Hope you enjoy it and your thrillers!
