Disqus vs. Blogger commenting system - help me decide
This is going to be a sort of poll - with a sticky link at the top of the blog until July 15th (oopsie .. meant to say July 5th). As a blogger who runs giveaways, I switched to Disqus for the following reasons: 1. Easier to make numbered comments 2. Less trouble filtering out the people that enter giveaways for their mama, sister, aunt, husband, neighbor and dog - but still, a big pain, just less of a pain than Blogger's commenting system
My problems with Disqus: 1. Often people leave a comment and I'd like to visit them, but their profile is not set to link to their blog and/or they have a different username there than Google, so I can't visit them back. 2. Some of my visitors have trouble commenting with the Disqus system (and I think that many people don't like having to sign up for a different commenting system either)
FORGOT TO ADD: I don't like the fact that in order to comment, you have to reload the page.I've seen blogs where this isn't the case, but try as I might, I can't find the instructions to have that happen on my own blog.
Rafflecopter seems to be the way I will go for future giveaways (see my Literary Giveaway Blog Hop post for an example), which means that my winners will NOT be picked out of comments (although I will still require an initial comment for entry). This means that I won't NEED Disqus to run a fair giveaway, so I'm seriously considering going back to Blogger's commenting system.

I voted for Blogger's commenting system. I do not have a problem with Disqus, except that often profiles do not have blog links. I just prefer blogger more.
There is a setting I use in Disqus that retains the Blogger comments. If I go into the comments tab of my dashboard, all of the comments show up there as well.
Hey - I started reading your blog after the blog hop & when I read this post I wondered if yours was the blog where I'd found the commenting system really confusing, checked back & realised it was. Blogger is a pain when having to count through, but I think that the profile viewing thing clinches it - I love being able to see where people came from & start viewing new blogs. Hope you manage to find a happy compromise!
I dislike discus but blogger doesn't allow replies so you lose the conversation aspect of commenting. The real answer is blogger needs to update their commenting system... not that it will happen any time soon!
I'm not a book snob. I may consider myself a bit intellectual, but a book doesn't have to be high and lofty for me to enjoy it. My ratings system is based purely on my own personal enjoyment while reading:
1 star - not even my enemies should read this 2 stars - there's at least one good thing about it 3 stars - it was an average sort of read 4 stars - very good; I liked it a lot 5 stars - amazing; you should read it and all of your friends and relatives should read it too

I tried Disqus and did not like that all of my blogger comments no longer showed up. I went back to blogger...JMO
I have to admit I like Disqus for ease of commenting but I can see its disadvantages for you.

I can comment pretty easily on either, but I seem to have less problems on the Blogger system.
Blogger, for some reason commenting here only works 10% of the time, i'm shocked it's working now.
