Teaser Tuesdays - May 17, 2011

Teaser Tuesdays

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along; you don't have to be a blogger! Just do the following:

Grab your current read

Open to a random page

Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teaser this week:

Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier
Maybe his way of treating me was natural to all of the de Villiers family?  A kind of congenital defect leaving them capable of only a contemptuous smile for women?

- page 201 (ARC), Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier (The Book Depository / Amazon)

Goodreads description:

Gwyneth Shepherd's sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth, who in the middle of class takes a sudden spin to a different era! Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon, the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential. Together, Gwyneth and Gideon journey through time to discover who, in the 18th century and in contemporary London, they can trust.

With the reviews on this one, it was hard to keep it in the right order in the review pile!  (my order is a hodgepodge of when the books come in and release dates - sometimes I'll pull an ARC up that came in later if it's release date is due or past - this one released May 10th, so it was OK to pull it up before a couple of others - that's my reason and I'm sticking to it!)

Feel free to leave your teaser or link to it in the comments section; I find that I always end up adding to my to-buy list when I visit!

Julie

  6. I like the name de Villiers - sounds like de Villain. LOL The summery is fascinating.  Time traveling as a gift inherited through families.

Comments make me feel all squishy happy inside, so drop a line if you see or read something interesting! PLEASE don't leave links to your blog or page unless the post you're replying to specifically asks you to leave a link!
Sorry that I had to re-enable word verification, but without it, there was far too much spam coming in - the only other option would have been to require only registered (Google, OpenID, etc.) comments, which might require you, the commenter, to go through even MORE steps just to comment!
