Scared Sh*tless Reading Challenge COMPLETE!

Woot! I finally completed a challenge and read ALL of the titles that I included!

Maybe it was because there were only 3 books :) .. but one of them was over 700 pages and the other over 1,000! Maybe it was because I stayed up until the wee wee hours last night reading the final 200 pages of "The Passage", determined to finish it! Maybe it was because all three of the books made for good reading, but .. I did it! Finally!

Next year, I'm going to start keeping a page tracker of all of the pages read .. I think that would be cool to know!

Draculas - various authors

I'll be joining a Steampunk Challenge soon (The Parasol Protectorate series and Leviathan by Scott Westerfield will be included on that list, so I'm looking forward to THAT) , and I'm not doing so badly with the "Fall Into Reading" challenge (I figured out that there is one book that I added that is intended to be read daily for a year, so that one will be coming off that list).

Sorry that I had to re-enable word verification, but without it, there was far too much spam coming in - the only other option would have been to require only registered (Google, OpenID, etc.) comments, which might require you, the commenter, to go through even MORE steps just to comment!

My Book Ratings System

I'm not a book snob. I may consider myself a bit intellectual, but a book doesn't have to be high and lofty for me to enjoy it. My ratings system is based purely on my own personal enjoyment while reading:

1 star - not even my enemies should read this
2 stars - there's at least one good thing about it
3 stars - it was an average sort of read
4 stars - very good; I liked it a lot
5 stars - amazing; you should read it and all of your friends and relatives should read it too

Why you'll never see a 1 star rating on my blog: If it's THAT bad, I won't even bother to finish reading it and I don't think it's fair to rate and review a book that I haven't finished. BUT ... you MAY see a "DNF" (did not finish) in my Monday memes for books read. THAT'S a sign .. :)
